Effects on body/symptoms The symptoms of Spastic Paralysis usually can occur before a child is 2 years old. It can be seen if your child is delayed in reaching, and in development stages such as sitting, rolling, crawling, or walking. There are many different types of spastic paralysis and they all have a variety of sypmtoms. The most common sypmtoms are: · Where the muscles get very tight and don't have much elasticity. That may escalate over time. · A certain way that person walks; arms tucked in to sides, knees crossed or touching legs make "scissor" movements, walks on toes. · Joint contracture, which is when joints are constricted and do not open the whole way. · Muscle faintness or decrease of movement in a collection of muscles. · All of these symptoms may affect one arm or leg, one side of the body, or both arms and legs. The symptoms that occur in the brain or nervous system are: · Reduced intelligence or learning disabilities are common, although intelligence may be normal. · Speech impairments · Seizures · Sight or hearing problems · Pain, most common in adults.
